Halfway between talisman and muse, the Parisian fashion house’s little mascot continues her exploration of the world’s treasures, venturing to Japanese lands to discover the cherry blossom season.

The mere mention of the name Louis Vuitton instantly evokes the famous luggage of the prestigious Parisian trunk-maker, which contributed to its worldwide renown in the second half of the 19^th century, and by extension to the sacred art of travel. This desire for escapism applied to the modern era is reflected in the exploration of the world’s treasures by Vivienne, the little half-talisman, half-muse character created in 2017, who has been inviting herself into all the brand’s businesses, including watchmaking for the past four years. The mascot, whose silhouette is inspired by the Monogram Flower, ventures into Japanese lands to discover its famous cherry trees through the Tambour Slim Vivienne Heures Sautantes Sakura watch.

To create this timepiece, the artisans at La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton used a variety of decorative and artistic materials and techniques. The polished and sandblasted pink mother-of-pearl dial reveals a floral tapestry dotted with brilliants and hand-painted budding branches. Vivienne stands at the center of this decor, dressed in the traditional kimono and topped with diamonds. The emblematic figure holds a parasol in her right hand, while the fan on her left displays the jumping hour, alternating with the porthole at 8 o’clock. The minutes, meanwhile, are indicated by a central transparent hand finished with a cherry blossom. These functions are provided by caliber LV180, an automatic movement with a 42-hour power reserve housed in a 38mm-diameter white gold case with a gem-covered bezel.

Redesigned after two decades of existence, the incomparably curvaceous watch from the Parisian fashion house embraces the warm reflections of gold to dress its refined silhouette, from head to toe or in cleverly placed touches.

The personality of a watch, its instant identification when recognized on the wrist with a simple glance, is the first mission that every designer sets himself. This is typically the case for the Tambour watch, born in 2002 and the emblem of Louis Vuitton watchmaking, whose incomparable curves were redesigned after celebrating its 20^th anniversary. Made more ergonomic thanks in particular to the absence of lugs allowing the metal bracelet to merge seamlessly with the case, its refined morphology nonetheless retains the physical assets and visual codes that have made it such a success and, after the two steel models unveiled in 2023, embraces the warm reflections of gold with three new pieces: Tambour Gold.

The generously curved sides of its 40mm-diameter, 8.3mm-thick case feature the capital letters of the Parisian Maison’s name, inscribed in polished relief. Available in rose or yellow gold, or in steel with a few golden touches here and there (fluted crown stamped with the initials LV, bezel as thin as a wedding band, central links of the bracelet, and triangular hour-markers, luminescent Arabic numerals and dauphine-style hands), the case houses the LFT023 caliber. This self-winding movement, designed by La Fabrique du Temps in collaboration with Le Cercle des Horlogers, is equipped with a micro-rotor, vibrates at the standard 4hz frequency and delivers a 50-hour power reserve. What’s more, its precision is guaranteed by the Geneva Chronometric Observatory. The colors of the faces, on which the hour and minute displays and the small seconds counter (at 6 o’clock) unfold in concentric circles, are harmoniously matched to the metal colors of these three Tambour Gold: chocolate brown, immaculate white or silver-gray.

It celebrated its 20^th anniversary in 2022, a young age in which to blossom, experiment with unknown territories, develop one’s personality, and embarks on a new decade with the wisdom that comes with maturity. The Tambour watch, this expression of time interpreted by Louis Vuitton, has chosen to make a few changes to accentuate its outer and inner beauty, to embrace a reworked silhouette and to embark on a mechanical heart whose precision has been certified by the Geneva Observatory’s Chronometry Service, a further guarantee of its well-made nature.

The Tambour‘s aesthetic adventure is based on a softening of the curve of its steel case. This architectural case measures 40mm in diameter and 8.3mm thick, and features the Parisian brand’s signature capital letters engraved in relief on its side. Thanks to the absence of lugs, it integrates perfectly with the metal link bracelet for optimized ergonomics.

Composed of concentric rings bending a large disc and encompassing a small seconds at 6 o’clock, the face of this Louis Vuitton, offered in a silver-grey or royal-blue hue, displays the hours and minutes via two luminescent central hands. This phosphorescence also adorns the quintet of Arabic numerals, while the alternating finishes (grained, brushed and azure surfaces) and stampings (hollowed and applied triangular hour-markers) accentuate the three-dimensional effect revealed on the dial. Time information is provided by the LFT 023 caliber designed by La Fabrique du Temps, a 4hz movement with automatic winding by gold micro-rotor that provides a 50-hour power reserve.

Made of synthetic sapphire, a material praised for its lightness and resistance here tinted with vibrant colors, the two new watches unveiled by the Parisian maison and authenticated by the most prestigious certification feature a vertical vision of their mechanism.

Vibrant colors are on the agenda with this duo of new models that expand the Tambour Moon Tourbillon Volant “Poinçon de Genève” collection already composed by three versions, totally transparent and delicately bluish or pinkish. Indeed, for its emblematic watch that celebrated its two decades of existence in 2022, Louis Vuitton opted for bright, very spring-like, even fluorescent shades: a lemon yellow boosted with vitamin C and a very refreshing water mint green.

For each of the references, the 42.5mm diameter and 9.90mm thick case is machined in synthetic sapphire, a material with a crystalline appearance that is as light as it is resistant. The different elements – the case middle, the case back and the LV signature ring at 9 o’clock – have been cut from a mass-colored block and polished. This translucent and shiny aspect contrasts strongly with the lugs, the crown and the plate/bridge assembly placed in concentric rings covered with a matte black treatment. In the center, two openworked and two-tone baton-type hands display the hours and minutes.

Like a pilaster, the LV 90 caliber reveals its workings in a vertical display punctuated at 6 o’clock by a flying tourbillon with a 60-second rhythm and topped by a Fleur de Monogram, the Louis Vuitton symbol. This hand-wound mechanical movement, entirely designed by the Fabrique du Temps, provides a power reserve of 80 hours. Stamped, as its name indicates, with the prestigious seal that authenticates its excellent workmanship, the Tambour Moon Tourbillon Volant “Poinçon de Genève” watch is worn on a black or green alligator leather strap, depending on the version chosen, which is closed by a titanium pin buckle.

For 20 years now, Louis Vuitton has been extending its elegant universe into the world of watchmaking. The brand’s line of sporty-chic models reflects this new trend. What do they have in common? A case with a singular design whose convex lines evoke those of an instrument found in most cultures. While this symbol gives rhythm to the music, the many Tambour references stamped with the famous monogram create a seductive collection. This atypical shape can be found on the two new models Tambour Street Diver Burning Rock and Urban Green. Inspired by traditional diving watches, these timepieces have a steel case with a diameter of 44mm and a thickness of 12.8mm, waterproof down to a depth of 100 meters. This pair of watches is driven by an automatic movement based on an ETA 2895, providing at least 50 hours of power reserve.

On the two-tone dials, the time indications are optimally legible thanks to hour markers and large hour and minute hands coated with white Super-Luminova^®. The models also stand out thanks to the presence of an internal rotating graduated bezel. The second crown positioned at 2 o’clock is for adjusting the setting. These two versions are available, one with a dominant almond green, the other bright orange. Both are worn on a matching rubber wristband that is easily changed.
