For the second stage of the third season of Extreme E in Scotland, Zenith, partner and organizer, rolled out a new 100-piece limited edition of its Defy Extreme E Energy x Prix. This championship intends to redefine motor racing by promoting environmental sustainability and gender equality. Like previous creations, the one showcased by the star-logoed brand boasts a 45 mm-diameter case. This watch, totally crafted in carbon fiber, only weighs 96 grams! And, as a color is center staged with each variation, this time round it’s Vital Green that jazzes up the data scenography and Velcro®-attached rubber strap.
Once again, time data is driven by the El Primero 9004 caliber. This selfwinding movement delivers 50 hours of power reserve. What’s more, this device stands out with its two escapements. The one devoted to handling the hours and minutes beats at a frequency of 36,000 vib./h, whilst the other, attached to the chronograph displaying the 1/100th of a second, flaunts 360,000 vib./h. The Defy Extreme E comes in a sturdy, waterproof, crushproof presentation case inspired by the rally’s extreme conditions. This box is created using upcycled materials, collected backstage during the first season’s events. The lid covering is made using E-Grip tires and the base one with fragments of a racing tarpaulin. A model that’s environmentally-aware in spirit and design.
