The independent brand presents a unique piece that will be auctioned by Philips Auctioneers during the TimeForArt charity event, which will be held on December 7 this year.

From Frank Sinatra to Jay-Z, Lou Reed, Bruce Springsteen, Sting, as well as Taylor Swift, the Big Apple was, is, and always will be a source of inspiration. Every generation can think of the lyrics of a song that go with New York. Strolling along the paths and trails of Central Park also forges lasting memories like the ones sparked by Christelle Rosnoblet, Speake Marin‘s CEO’s wanderings. These recollections guided her brand’s compass to métiers d’art and to imagining a spectacular masterpiece. This one-piece creation going under the name of Promenade à New York will be up for sale during the next TimeForArt charity auction.

A miniature scenescape painted by hand on its mother-of-pearl dial illustrates a fall-time view of the well-known Gapstow Bridge. Vibrant colors bring this incredibly-delicate detailed setting to life. On top, the duo of hands, including the heart-shaped hour one, hover gently. The small seconds hand, in the shape of a watchmaker’s lathe from bygone days, off-set at 1:30, ticks by steadily, driven by the SMA03 caliber equipped with a micro-rotor. This selfwinding movement with outstanding finishes offers the watch a power reserve of 52 hours. This device, assembled using some 147 components, nestles inside a 42 mm-diameter titanium case attached by a tawny leather strap clasped by a pin buckle. With its incredible slimness obtained thanks to its one-of-a-kind caliber, this reference whisks the independent brand off to the ever-so demanding exclusive club gathering together makers of flat watches.

Less is more. With the Ripples Skeleton, the famous principle has once again proved just how relevant it is. Thanks to this model, Speake Marin joins the inner circle of brands which are able to offer ultra-slim timepieces. To achieve this, its SMA07 caliber takes on new dimensions, namely a height of just 3.25 mm. And, even though it’s smaller in size, it’s still as high-performing as ever. The selfwinding movement boasts a bidirectional micro-rotor and a balance wheel that beats at 5 Hz an hour. This device enjoys a variation of just -/+ 5 seconds a day, and offers the watch a power reserve of some 52 hours.

The Ripples Skeleton becomes more slender and takes on the 40.30 mm-diameter case designed by Stéphane Lacroix in 2022. This holder, with a height of 9.20 mm for the collection’s previous models, now stands out with its thickness of just 6.30 mm and it’s still waterproof to depths of 50 meters. The independent brand opted for 904L steel instead of the usual 316L. With its higher percentage of nickel and chrome, this alloy boasts greater resistance to corrosion. On top of that, the metal dazzles even more when it’s adorned with a polished finish. Moreover, every single detail is enhanced with outstanding adornments. On the openworked dial, the inner workings in action help create a kinetic scenography. We discover the small seconds offset towards 1:30. To date, Speake Marin is the only brand that rolls out this one-of-a-kind layout. As a nod to the other models from the collection, the counter dressed in a black hue obtained using PVD takes on signature relief-style waves.

With this one-of-a-kind variation, the independent brand rolls out a summertime alternative of its travel watch center staging an elaborately-sculptural scenography.

In the past, Dual Time models stood out in the Openworked collection with their flashy colors. This time round, Speake Marin invites to discover a new look for its travel watch via the Dual Time Terracotta. Here, time data is staged in a still-as-original-as-ever way in the Piccadilly case crafted in polished and brushed grade 5 titanium, available with a 38 mm or 42 mm diameter. The one-of-a-kind Big Ben-shaped hour and minute hands hover over the iconic layered, openworked dial flaunting a frosted terracotta-hued surface obtained using PVD treatment. This shade conjures up the one used on rubber-cushioned tennis courts.

On top, an offset small seconds at 1:30 features a retrograde date around its edge. The second time zone display still reigns at 9 o’clock. An arrow-tip coated with luminescent material ticks over a two-tone black and gray 24-hour scale. Various orange- and blue-glowing Super-LumiNova^® paints ensure the data is ever-so easy to read anytime, anywhere. The cut-out revealing the barrel at 5 o’clock also plays a role in creating an appealing kinetic composition. And, just like in previous creations, all the time information is driven by the SMA02 caliber developed and assembled in-house in the brand’s Swiss workshop. This micro-rotor-equipped selfwinding movement delivers a power reserve of 52 hours.

This new aesthetic variation available in two diameters gives a modern style to the design of this timepiece while promoting traditional know-how

Although ultraviolet is invisible to the naked eye, it takes on a violet hue when exposed to a source of artificial light. On the Openworked Tourbillon Ultra Violet watch by Speake Marin, it offers a unique visual experience. The futuristic design born from the inspired stroke of Eric Giroud and the fine watchmaking caliber in this limited series create a striking display. Inside the grade 5 brushed and polished titanium case, a satin-brushed and rhodium-plated dial decorates a flying tourbillon, a micro-rotor and a barrel drum. These elements play a major role in this layered composition, which is both minimalist and sophisticated. Each one is highlighted by curved lines decorated with a luminous magenta obtained with PVD coating. To ensure optimum readability, the Big Ben-type hands are coated in white Super-LumiNova^® with blue emission.

For the occasion, the 12.35mm-thick case comes in two sizes. Four pieces come in a 38mm-diameter, while five others come in a 42mm-diameter. Visual harmony is achieved, whatever the dimensions. The sapphire crystal case back reveals the finishes of some of the 290 components required to assemble the caliber SMA05, which integrates a tourbillon cage weighing around 0.56 grams. This self-winding movement delivers 72 hours of power reserve. Ideal for appreciating the fascinating spectacle offered by the rotations of the regulating device.

During the 2024 Watches & Wonders Show, the brand showcased a monochrome variation of its watch boasting a look inspired by elegant, up-to-the-minute architecture.

One is not born, but rather becomes, an icon. This paraphrase of a famous quote by French novelist Simone de Beauvoir fits La City case, imagined by the visionary Stéphane Lacroix for Speake Marin, like a glove. With its 40.3 mm diameter, its thickness of just 9.20 mm, its ingenious geometric-styled silhouette and its satin-brushed and polished surfaces, this model has everything it takes to stand out in the watchmaking scenescape. And, to boost its chic ‘n’ sporty personality even more, the brand has rolled out some rather appealing time scenographies. In a nutshell, this novel Ripples Infinity Date wows with its metalized silvered dial, its Big Ben-shaped hour and minute hands, the sunray-finished disc of its small seconds and its slender markers. Here, every element is involved in creating a play on light that’s ever-so subtle, decisively-charming. What’s more, the perfectly-integrated steel bracelet perpetuates this elegant look.

Like all the references in the collection, all the time data is driven by the 3.9 mm-high SMA03-TD caliber. This mechanism is assembled using some 162 components in the watchmaker’s workshops in La Chaux-de-Fonds. This selfwinding movement, beating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations an hour, delivers a power reserve of 52 hours to the timepiece. The exemplary finishes of its bridges decorated with a Côtes de Genève pattern and the meticulous, exclusive graining of its tungsten micro-rotor invite to admire through the sapphire-crystal caseback. The dial-free piece ensures the vista over a myriad of the 536 components making up the SMAHH-02 caliber is striking. This openworked monochrome architecture gives pride of place to the flying tourbillon set at 6 o’clock, completing its revolutions in 60 seconds, and to the blued hour and minute hands. This mesmerizing ensemble is combined with a 42 mm-diameter gray grade 5 PVD titanium case topped with a platinum bezel.

In addition to the regulating device, this manual-wind movement boasting a power reserve of 72 hours drives the hammers precisely which chime time on demand. A tap on the discreet pusher integrated in the case middle lets the wearer know the hours, the quarters, and the minutes. The notes in an array of tones ring out one after the other to create a gentle melody. If you trigger the complication at 12:59, the carillon will play its musical composition for 18 seconds. The energy stored within is also used for a somewhat unexpected animation. At 12 o’clock, the three letters of the Roman numeral 12 draped in pinkish-red move in rhythm, adding a touch of fantasy. Speake Marin proves that you can be serious yet wonderfully mischievous.

Let’s go green. Much more than just a trend, it’s a must… Basically, the plant color has definitely bloomed this year on timepieces, infusing them with a dash of lightness and mildness. Speake Marin‘s new star-of-the-show in its collections, aka its Ripples model, enjoys the advantages of the chlorophyll hue in this Ripples Metallic Green version. On the occasion of Watches & Wonders Geneva 2023, the brand revealed a new generation of its sporty-chic model, with futuristic lines and a new date display.

Details make the difference. While the black dial of the Ripples Date features the undulations characteristic of the collection’s timepieces, this delicate mix of light and shadow now comes with a discreet window at 6 o’clock. On the inside, a date regularly ticks off its numbering. The presence of this new feature, harmoniously placed within the hour circle composed of markers, does not in any way alter the refined and relaxed personality of the watches in the Speake Marin line. Moreover, the watch retains the emblematic slim steel case with softened angles, 40.3mm in diameter and only 9.20mm thick.

The “Big Ben” shaped hour and minute hands as well as the off-center small seconds at 2 o’clock are powered by the SMA03-TD caliber, developed and assembled using 162 components in the watchmaker’s Neuchâtel workshops. This self-winding movement, calibrated at 28,000 vibrations per hour, provides this new model with a 52-hour power reserve. The exquisite finishing of its Geneva waves bridges and micro-rotor are revealed through the sapphire back. As with all the models in the collection, this first edition of the Ripples Date comes with an integrated wristband crafted from polished and satin-finished metal links.
