As the Friends wished to celebrate adventures that have forever fueled our imaginative minds, they once again called on the dexterity of one of the world’s most talented modern-day engravers.

After having diffused his incomparable virtuosity over a series of eight Legacy Machine Split Escapement dials depicting Jules Verne’s dreamlike realm, Eddy Jaquet reiterates this artistic achievement with creations nourished by can’t-do-without young fiction category novels. The Three Musketeers, The Last of the Mohicans, The Jungle Book, The Call of the Wild, Moby Dick, Treasure Island, and Robin Hood were the source of inspiration for these new incredibly-delicate masterpieces. Each engraving whisks us back through our childhood reading souvenirs and exalts the eight unique LM Split Escapement Eddy Jaquet 2024 pieces signed by MB&F.

All the watches embrace a 44.5 mm-diameter steel case and a split escapement caliber. The balance wheel suspended from its arches hovers over the graceful scenography. This spectacularly-constructed manual-winding movement developed by watchmaker Stephen McDonnell is nonetheless a great performer. It boasts double barrels that store a power reserve of some 72 hours. The indicator set at 5 o’clock lets the wearer know how much energy remains. The subdial nestling at 7 o’clock displays the date, whilst the hours and minutes are read in a dedicated space offset at 12 o’clock. These LM Split Escapement Eddy Jaquet 2024 center stage the finesse of the engraver’s touch. The frozen scenes overflow with details. The texture obtained gifts each portrayal with deep relief. Thanks to this amazing feat, casting your eye over them conjures up the pleasure we’d get as kids when we turned over the pages of fascinating tales that we devoured late into the night.

Through this one-of-a-kind model produced in a 33-piece limited series, the Friends whisk short-cycle time measurement off to a new dimension that wows and entertains.

With its Legacy Machine Sequential EVO in 2022, MB&F expanded the horizons of timekeeping in a watch. By embracing two chronographs, this new model boasts independent, split-second, cumulative, and lap-timer mode. And, thanks to upgrading it with a flyback function, it can now sequence series of time measurements easily and ever-so quickly. On top of the visual enchantment sparked when discovering this new LM Sequential Flyback Platinium, a yearning to play with the pushers dotted around the middle of the 44 mm-diameter platinum-sculpted case reigns.

Its complex manual-winding movement, assembled using some 619 components, delivers a power reserve of 72 hours. A display on the watch back lets the wearer know how much energy’s left. This caliber meticulously drives the ballet of the chronograph hands, as well as the hour and minute ones, ticking by on a tilted disc at 6 o’clock. And, just like with traditional chronographs, each pair of seconds and minutes counters comes with its own buttons. The fifth pusher set at 9 o’clock and known as Twinverter, “controls both chronograph systems, operating as a binary switch that inverts the current start/stop status of each chronograph. This means that if both chronographs are stopped, pressing the Twinverter causes both of them to start simultaneously. If they are both running, the Twinverter makes them stop. And, if one is running and the other is stopped, the Twinverter stops the one that is running and starts the one that is stopped”, specifies the brand. Time has never been this fascinating.

After the first versions in white and green, the Friends present a new limited series of 33 pieces in blue, obtained from metallic pigments.

With the HM5 (2012), MB&F has given a new lease of life to these watches with their striking design. What’s so special about them? The unconventional time information display is not read on a dial, but on the side, at 90°, using prisms.  When driving, the wearer does not have to turn their wrist to read the time. In addition to the practical element, this type of watch, known as “Casquette”, promotes creativity. The HM8 Mark II unveiled by MB&F last year is a perfect illustration of this with its disruptive design. The lines of its case (47 x 41.5 x 19 mm) evoke those of legendary GTs and, more specifically, those of the Fiat Abarth 750 Zagato Double Bubble (1959). The case machined in colored CarbonMacrolon^®, a polymer composite injected with carbon nanotubes, and in grade 5 titanium, stands out for its lightness and strength. The excellent level of comfort is multiplied by the white calfskin strap fastened with Velcro^®. This year, the new aesthetic version, the HM8 Mark II Blue, retains all of these assets.

Under the double-curved sapphire crystal there is the emblematic rotor in the shape of a battle-axe in 22-carat gold, and a few other components of a Girard-Perrégaux base caliber, orchestrating jumping hours and trailing minutes. This automatic movement assembled with 247 elements gives the HM8 Mark II Blue 42 hours of power reserve. Adequate time for a break before hitting the road again.

When black consorts with yellow gold, style becomes inevitably elegant. The latest variation of the brand’s most alluring watch illustrates this impeccably.

Since 2019, the LM FlyingT has been forever enthralling the ladies with its suave features and precious materials. After a version flaunting a lapis-lazuli face, then one in malachite and another in tiger eye, MB&F showcases a novel, incredibly-pure variation where an intense-black onyx stone espouses the warm hues of a 38.5 mm-diameter yellow gold case. Unlike a traditional dial, this one is shaped like a dome boasting variable thicknesses which take the mechanism-inherent technical particularities into account. The 60-second flying tourbillon reigns in its somewhat thicker center. The hours and minutes are still displayed on the 50°-tilted subdial set at 7 o’clock, ticked over by a pair of golden serpentine hands. The two-toned scenography, topped by its impressively-curvaceous crystal glass, gifts this model with a personality of incomparable timeless elegance.

And, just like all the variations previously unveiled by the Geneva-based brand, this timepiece comes equipped with the elaborate selfwinding caliber, assembled using some 280 components. This ever-so accurate in-house movement wows with its performance. It delivers at least four days (100 hours) of power reserve to the watch. The existence of a sapphire-crystal caseback invites to admire the surprising sun-shaped oscillating weight adorned with wavy rays. In Buddhism, black onyx is said to keep bad vibrations at bay. Following a green CVD (Chemical Vapor Deposition) dial, Friends reveal the fifth opus of their timepiece that can be worn in all conditions.

With its 44-mm titanium case, waterproof to a depth of 80 meters, the Legacy Machine EVO Titanium combines resistance, lightness and biocompatibility. With these advantages, it can accompany you smoothly through your hectic daily life. For this variation, MB&F decorates the dial with a soft ice blue colour that highlights the counters displaying perpetual calendar data. This model keeps the original scenescape with three openworked discs adorned in black, in which a hand points to the date at 9 o’clock, the day at 3 o’clock and the month at 6 o’clock. The hours and minutes are read in the sub-dial offset at 12 o’clock. Two indicators, one for leap years and the other for the power reserve, complete the information. This highly contrasted whole also offers excellent readability. In the center, a large balance fitted with a 14 mm-diameter wheel supported by its arch is as mesmerizing as ever.

This esthetic development retains all the characteristics of the first reference. The bezel has made way for a redesigned sapphire-crystal dome directly welded to the body. For exemplary ergonomics, the pushers, with their slender, rectangular shape, are discretely integrated into the case. To protect the complicated caliber designed by watchmaker Stephen McDonnell and assembled with 581 components, the “FlexRing“ system, made from a single block of steel, absorbs shocks over several axes. The manual wind movement offers a power reserve of 72 hours. Ideal for getting the most out of this exceptional timepiece.

The Friends are back in town! To say that the new Horological Machine, rolled out in two limited series, shatters conventions, is far from being clichéd. It literally takes your breath away. Guided tour.

Imagining the future. Although today the concept appears to be doomed to deadlock, in the second half of the 20^th century, the idea was booming in literature, in design and even in architecture. Among the creations of homes of the future, curved lines reigned over right angles, as seen in bubble houses. In a nutshell, practical gave way to visual harmony. MB&F embraces this philosophy with its surprising Horological Machine 11. And, if truth be told, the HM11 Architect is unlike any other watch. Its impressive, elaborate 42 mm-diameter, grade 5 titanium and sapphire-crystal case is split into four distinct curvilinear spaces boasting the same shapes. It took ninety-two pieces to finalize it.

Each ‘room’ separated by a 90° angle of offset flaunts its own identity. One displays the hours and minutes. The next one, the power reserve, which informs on the amount of energy left out of the 96 hours the caliber produces. In June 2021, under its M.A.D. Editions label, MB&F sent social media into a frenzy by unveiling a model that was a pure icon of the brand’s disruptive identity. As well as being really original, this piece stood out with its pricetag that was considerably more accessible than a Legacy Machine or a Horological Machine. This initial blue-adorned M.A.D. 1 limited edition was remarkably successful and was sold out in record time. A second opus was launched in 2022. It was characterized by its key color, red. From its HM5 to its HM8, and not forgetting its HMX, MB&F has definitely brought “casquette”-style (aka visor) watches from the 1970s back into vogue. Its novel HM8 Mark 2 reiterates this concept and ingeniously blends together the very best in esthetics and technology from its older siblings. In a nutshell, the horizontally-placed time data discs are magnified and projected at 90 degrees on the vertical display thanks to high-precision prisms crafted in sapphire crystal. This scenography is now hosted in a case whose lines are inspired by the bodies of legendary GTs like the Fiat Abarth 750 “Double Bubble” Zagato from 1959. Following the LM Perpetual and LM 101, it is now the turn of the Geneva-based brand’s LM 2 model to be graced with delicate, subtle hues ranging from pale blue to aqua green.

In 2013, MB&F inaugurated a new episode in its Legacy Machine saga. The latter is brought to life in the form of a timepiece with an enchanting mise-en-scène by, among others, Kari Voutilainen. A tribute to the creative genius of 18^th century watchmakers, the movement developed by Jean-François Mojon takes center stage. On the dial, two balance wheels suspended from arches of exceptional refinement animate the symmetrical composition by their respective oscillations. A planetary differential unfolds under this duo. Its function is not merely aesthetic. This elevated component acts as an interface. It supplies energy to each of the regulators, records the cadence of the balances, and conveys the average of their steps to precisely synchronize the hours and minutes. Ten years after its creation, the Legacy Machine 2 Palladium retains all these technical features with now an elegant grey-green minute track bridge. For a perfect harmony, this limited edition of only 18 timepieces is paired with a leather alligator wristband.

The 44mm diameter rose gold case, assembled using 41 components, is machined in palladium for this series. This noble metal, akin to platinum, enhances the already refined personality of the LM2. Within this exclusive case, the 241 components of the caliber continue to ensure the smooth running of the watch. Resulting from a collaborative project with Emmanuel Tarpin, these two new editions, each limited to only eight watches, plunge us elegantly into the harshest of seasons.

In the northern hemisphere, winter is upon us transforming our panoramas. Snow blankets the landscape in an immaculate shade of white. The icy winds chisel away at the earth. MB&F is capturing these atmospheres of wonder within two timepieces, the Legacy Machine FlyingT Ice & Blizzard. In keeping with its commitment towards producing original creations, the Geneva-based brand called upon Emmanuel Tarpin’s dexterity and his ability to captivate. The young master jeweler, a graduate of the Haute École d’Art et de Design (HEAD), brilliantly and elegantly set the scene for his favorite season.

Hence, the dome of the LM FlyingT provides the ideal setting for the Ice and Blizzard models. On the first of these, diamond stalagmites flourish on the sapphire. The second stands out thanks to the flakes crafted from these same precious stones. In order to emphasize the nuanced shades of winter, the main dial and the inclined disk on which the serpentine hour and minute hands revolve are finished with matte azure lapis lazuli.

Their 39 x 20 mm white gold case, entirely studded with diamonds, incorporates the caliber developed in-house by MB&F. This powerful self-winding movement delivers 100 hours of power reserve. It features the suspended blue-tinted balance, and the central 60-second flying tourbillon topped with a tourmaline. This gem also embellishes the two crowns respectively dedicated to the winding and setting. Mesmerizing down to the last detail!

The Legacy Machines produced by some of the world’s most famous watchmaking friends are gaining in robustness thanks to welcome mechanical enhancements, adapting to all everyday conditions.

From now on, all MB&F watches stamped with the EVO acronym share common features. Launched in 2020 by the LM Perpetuel, this defines a strengthening that enables timepieces to match any lifestyle, even the most dynamic. For this, the models are built using a case that is waterproof to a depth of 80 meters. They also feature a screw-down crown, integrated rubber wristband, SuperLuminiva® enhanced time display, and bezel-less construction. The movement itself is also suspended using the FlexRing system to absorb shocks. It is therefore only logical that these distinctive properties should be featured on the Legacy Machine Split Escapement EVO.

It was introduced on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the United Arab Emirates and sold exclusively in the brand’s Dubai boutique. The model, with its new look, an iceberg-blue plate and anthracite sub-dials, is sold in all other outlets. A 25-piece limited edition, the LM Split Escapement EVO Beverly Hills Edition, pairing black with blue, is reserved for the upcoming Los Angeles boutique. Since 2019, MB&F has been enchanting female wrists in pursuit of distinction and elegance with the Legacy Machine Flying T. Both a watch and a piece of jewelry, this creation holds a true power of attraction obtained with the help of various elements composing it. Indeed, how can one not be captivated by its 60-second flying tourbillon appearing in the center or its sub-dial inclined at 50° positioned at 7 o’clock on which a duo of serpentine hands move. With the 20th caliber, the friends are making a thunderous return to the forefront of the watchmaking scene. On the program: a movement with two chronographs and multiple modes!

The aesthetics are well known. A flying balance at 12 o’clock sustained by a polished arch dominates a mechanical composition on which time data progresses. The new LM Sequential EVO by MB&F is much less so, however, precisely due to the functions it offers. In addition to the off-center dial at 6 o’clock for the hours and minutes, four symmetrically positioned discs stand out, as do the five push-buttons set in the case middle of the 44mm diameter zirconium case that is water-resistant to a depth of 80 meters.

Fruit of the fertile imagination of the erudite watchmaker Stephen McDonnell, the caliber of this watch is remarkable for its ability to measure time like no other mechanism up to now. It incorporates not one, but two chronographs. This duo can operate in complete independence. Nonetheless, an ingenious mechanism known as the Twinverter orchestrates various alternatives by pressing the button at 9 o’clock. The simultaneous mode offers the possibility of running two measurements at the same time and stopping them at the end of each event. The “cumulative” or “sequential” option allows for multiple practical timing capabilities on a daily basis. To power this double chronograph, the hand-wound movement assembled with 585 components is equipped with two cylinders. It also supplies 72 hours of power reserve, which is highly convenient for monitoring performance during a sports competition or simply for monitoring the cooking of two dishes requiring special attention.
